Mike Lakusiak

Mike Lakusiak was raised in a log cabin deep in the forests of Eastern Ontario. He read much of the time because only having access to seven fuzzy television channels quickly becomes stale. He was cool in high school; so cool in fact that he felt it necessary to leave abruptly to attend university at the other end of the province without really telling anyone. He began to pursue something in the field of journalism and quickly endeared himself to the ’09 Cord Ed Board and was named “Writer of the Year” because of his stubborn refusal to leave the office. This trend continued in his tenure as News Editor in 2010-11 when only emerged from the basement of Mac House to ask the difficult questions. He has recently come out of denial and realized that his only goal in life is to write for Car and Driver, just as it was when he was nine years old. In the meantime, he toils away as In Depth Editor of The Cord, produces a podcast for the Canadian University Press, is a copyguy at the Waterloo Region Record, and a contributor to OpenFile Waterloo Region. Mike enjoys comfortable t-shirts, his immortal ’98 Camry and the dying art of common sense.
