As a long-time Cordie, I'm happy to still be calling The Cord home having just graduated with an English and Sociology degree. While I aspire for a career in journalism, I am cautious and expect at best to end up as an associate at Chapters. In the very least, being Editor-in-Chief this year will provide the reporting experience I crave.
I grew up in Toronto's west end in a concrete box in the sky; otherwise known as high-rise apartment. The area became progressively sketchy as drugs and gangs moved into Weston and Black Creek, leaving me to spend most of my time, apart from school, in my concrete haven. It did result in my love for books and story-telling, and thickened my skin so that I'm rarely uncomfortable walking alone late at night.
Other than being a bookworm, I am a workaholic — a condition that's only worsened since I moved to Waterloo and found The Cord. I survive on coffee (preferably from Starbucks), live in the Twitterverse, and rarely watch television because I don't have that kind of time. It's impossible to be aware of all news all the time, but I can certainly try.
